Sonny Kaufhold & Lilia

Harold H. Kaufhold is a parishioner of Notre Dame Church in Kerrville. He and his wife Lilia V. Kaufhold have two children, Caleb, 33, and Brant, 32. Harold “Sonny” Kaufhold is a native Texan, born in the city of Kerrville and lived most of his life there. It was there he met the love of his life, Lilia, and raised two good sons. After having attended Notre Dame Church for many years, Sonny was baptized, confirmed, received his first Communion, and married Lilia on Easter in 1995. Following his entrance into the church, he devoted time to Notre Dame’s RCIA program, which he had come to love during his journey into the faith. He became assistant director of the RCIA program and, alongside Lilia, served as minister and chaplain to various ministries involving the incarcerated and outcast of the area. These ministries include jail chaplain at the Kerr County Law Enforcement Center, jail chaplain at Kerr County Juvenile Detention Center (previously Recor), minister at Three H Youth Ranch (now Three H Pathways), and minister at Star Ranch for disadvantaged boys. He was also active in developing the first men’s ACTS retreat at Notre Dame Church and has been involved with the Third Cross ACTS (a young offenders program) retreats in Bexar County Corrections Center and elsewhere. He has served for several years on the Parish Council and supported Notre Dame Catholic School through his work in the parish festival. Following ordination, Sonny and Lilia will continue their work in jail ministry and parish activities.
