Coach Information
CYO is for Children, but its success depends upon the active participation of adults.
Coaches must follow the Rules and the Spirit of the rules of CYO, e.g., Play all participants;
employ no ringers; avoid cheating; promote honesty; and actively employ
more than just another youth sports program philosophy. In order to keep the welfare
of the youth first in the minds of the adult leaders, coaches are urged to play
each team member in every game. Under NO circumstances will any rules in the
Sports program pertaining to the player participation and the Safety of our youth
be minimized.
The CYO adheres to the Archdiocesan Sexual abuse policy and maintains a ZERO
tolerance policy, regarding allegations of sexual harassment or abuse.
The policy of the Archdiocese of San Antonio requires that criminal Background
checks be conducted on all clergy and employees. Criminal
background checks
must also be conducted on all Volunteers who directly work, or volunteer with
minors and/or vulnerable persons. No other criminal background searches are acceptable
in lieu of the Archdiocese criminal Background search.
All are asked to complete the Authorization ad release form for criminal background
search and code of ethics & screening questionnaire form. Refusal to sign and complete
this form will result in immediate termination and/or suspension of services.
All criminal Background searches are to be updated every 3 years.
In order to conduct sporting contest under the best of circumstances possible, to
preclude senseless arguments with referees, and in order to set the best example
for the youth participants, coaches must know the rules of their Sport.
All Coaches are to take a Coaches Training
course offered through the CYO
office, After the completion of this training you will receive a Certification badge.
